FAQ
What is a wet belt?
A wet belt is a rubber timing belt submerged in oil. It reduces friction by 1%
How does it fail?
Oil and rubber don’t not mix well. Over time the oil starts eating at the rubber timing belt causing it to degrade, these particles start blocking up the engine oil pick up (like bad cholesterol) and weakens the teeth resulting in the teeth stripping on the belt which will then result in catastrophic engine failure.
When do I change my wet belt?
If the vehicle has no service history we recommend to get it done at 120k. If it has a full service history we recommend 150k
What happens if I do not replace it?
If you don’t replace it engine failure is 100% guaranteed
What is replaced during the procedure?
We replace both timing belts, water pump, tensioner, timing cover, sump pan and of course the silent killer.. the oil pick up. The oil and oil filter is renewed as well as the coolant.
How long does this take?
This is a 2 day turn around but we also offer free courtesy vehicles.
How much does it cost?
Up to $2,995 for 4WD & $2,750 for 2WD
If my belt fails before replacement can my engine be saved?
for a simple engine failure we have cam boxes and all necessary parts to repair a failed engine. As for a more catastrophic engine failure we have exchange engines
